AMONG's History in Mongolia

Accomplishments

In 1993, a small group of Christians in the city of Sioux Falls, South Dakota were asked to build a television station on the other side of the world in Mongolia. They accepted this challenge to bring glory to Jesus Christ in Mongolia and to bring His message of love and forgiveness.

1992 First delegation sent to Mongolia.
1993 AMONG Foundation created.

1994 First AMONG staff person placed in Mongolia.
1994 Joint venture agreement signed with Mongolian partners.
1994 Antenna reaches Mongolia and is installed.

1995 First container of TV equipment reached Mongolia.
1995 Station goes on the air November 15.

1996 First Mongolian newscast April 15.
1996 Eagle TV June (A first for Mongolia).
1996 First Christian programming (“Superbook”) airs November 13.
1996 Miracles in Mongolia booklet written and published.

1997 Additional Christian programs begin airing (Real Videos, Carmen).
1997 NBA playoffs and finals shown with Christian NBA player testimonies.
1997 Sports team holds evangelistic basketball clinics in conjunction with NBA.
1997 First Samaritan’s Purse “Operation Christmas Child” shoebox distribution.

1998 “Touched by an Angel” shown by Eagle TV in Mongolia.
1998 New Testament cartoon “Flying House” shown for the first time.

2000 First Mongolian Christian testimonies aired in January.
2000 “Millennium Tribute to Jesus” shown on Eagle TV.
2000 First Mongolian-produced evangelistic program shown in September.
2000 First Mongolian New Testament distributed by Eagle TV in October.
2000 Call-in Center established in November.

2001 Call-in Center receives 5000 during the first year of its existence.
2001 12 churches partner with Eagle TV to help with follow up to calls received at Eagle TV.
2001 Eagle TV staff brought to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for training at KELO TV.
2001 Eagle TV moves to a new location: Mongol Kino complex.
2001 Eagle TV distributes Christian literature to people requesting spiritual help.

2002 Eagle TV airs first live International news coverage of Iraq War. 95% of audience watches.
2002 Eagle TV acheives ratings milestone, garnishing 28 percent of the television audience.

2005 Eagle TV re-launched as Eagle Broadcasing Company and cable network.
2005 Eagle TV becomes Mongolia's first all-news/talk TV operation.
2005 (February) Eagle TV acheives highest favorability rating of any Mongolian TV station (56.7%)
2005 (March) Globe International selects Eagle TV as the fairest and most balanced of all Mongolian TV news outlets.
2005 (May) Eagle TV news becomes the most frequently watched news programming on all Mongolian TV stations.
2005 (October) Eagle TV begins broadcasting on terrestrial Channel 8 in Mongolia's capitial of Ulaanbaatar.

2006 Eagle TV begins regular showing of character-driven Bible movies acting as an Old Testament through television.
2006 Eagle TV begins distributing originally produced Bible studies matching all movies. More than 15,000 studies distributed in the first year.
2006 Groundwork laid for Steppe-by-Steppe ministry to take movie-based discipleship strategy to the countryside.

2007 Eagle TV launches its first originally produced Christian children's program, Supermom.
2007 Eagle TV launches its first originally produced Bible teaching program, Together Thru The Bible.
2007 Steppe-by-Steppe projects reaches more than 25,000 in the countryside.
